More than 40 years ago Life Fitness created the Lifecycle, the first piece of electronic fitness equipment.
The Lifecycle was a game changer. It was the first in a long line of products fueled by the Life Fitness commitment to forward thinking and innovation.
The Best Life Fitness Elliptical Machines
It’s the goal of Life Fitness to combine extensive bio-mechanical research, thorough testing, and attention to great design and cutting-edge technology to create the world’s best exercise equipment. So, it’s no wonder that they product some of the best elliptical machines out there on the market.
Life Fitness X5 Go Cross-Trainer
The Life Fitness X5 Go Cross-Trainer combines contemporary styling with exceptional workout versatility.
Using Life Fitness’ revolutionary SelectStride™ technology, the X5 allows you to adjust the stride length between 18″ and 24″ for different-sized users in the household or to target different muscle groups. The sleek style and quiet motion of the X5 make it an attractive addition to any room. The Go Console provides an extremely easy-to-use interface with the essential workout programs you’ll need to maintain an effective fitness regimen.
The X5 cross trainer includes just 5 or 10 preset workouts, depending on the chosen console. However, there are 16 resistance levels, which is an improvement over the X1. Also, the programs are especially dynamic because of the adjustable stride, which lets people train different muscle groups.
The X5 also includes upper-arm workouts. Attractive features include great ergonomics, a heart rate readout, quiet operation, and durability. Still, the relatively low number of programs might disappoint frequent exercisers. All in all, this is a very interesting machine that keeps you fit and healthy.
Life Fitness Club Series Elliptical Cross-Trainer
The Life Fitness Club Series Elliptical Cross-Trainer delivers a remarkably pure, natural elliptical motion to help even the most inexperienced get the most out of each workout.
This elliptical machine features 18 workout programs, seven personalized workouts, a race mode, and goal workouts. You can save the name, age, weight, and workout preferences for two users in your household, or create up to two custom workouts for each user.
Other features include ErgoGrip™ stationary handlebar that provides stability during lower body-only workouts, an oversized, dual accessory tray, deluxe 16-character LED message center that provides workout feedback, and built-in reading rack. What more could you want?
Some users would miss the extras that some other brands offer, such as an incline or an audio system. The Club Series is a club-quality trainer with a price tag to match. Many users simply don’t need a machine that’s this good; they could get away with a cheaper elliptical.
Life Fitness X3 Go Cross-Trainer
The Life Fitness X3 Go Cross-Trainer elliptical machine comes with two different consoles: the Track Elliptical Console and the Go Elliptical Console.
With the more advanced Track version, you can access 14 different preset workout programs that you can change to suit your exercise needs and overall health improvement goals. You also get custom workouts, warm-up and cool-down modes, and a quick-start option for your elliptical workouts.
You can store fitness data for up to four different users. Included in the workouts are options such as Fat Burn, Sport Training and Extreme Heart Rate. There is even an option titled EZ Resistance for a less intense workout session. If you want to charge up your exercise sessions, you can choose from 16 different resistance levels.
In addition, you can automatically change the incline to make your workouts more or less challenging, depending on what your fitness plan for that day is as well as your overall health improvement goals. No matter how hard you push yourself on the X3 Elliptical Cross-Trainer, its WhisperStride technology keeps things remarkably quiet while delivering a smooth, fluid motion.
Contact heart rate hand sensors on the stationary handlebars let you track your workout progress as you’re pushing through each stage of your workout. The Track+ console connects to Android and Apple devices and lets you access personalized workouts, real-time workout tracking, and your favorite third-party fitness apps. Although it is a fairly expensive machine, the X3 offers all the features you would wish for.
Life Fitness X8 Elliptical Cross-Trainer with Advanced Console
The Life Fitness X8 Elliptical Cross-Trainer with Advanced Console Electronic Adjustable Stride Cross-Trainer offers you the ultimate in customization and comfort with features such as on-the-fly electronic stride adjustments and an even lower-impact ellipse motion.
The Advanced Workouts Console provides added workout variety and advanced programs to better help you reach your fitness goals.
It also includes both wireless and ErgoGrip stationary handlebar contact heart rate monitoring technology to keep you in your target heart rate zone–a Polar wireless chest strap is included–and the X8 includes five HeartSync heart rate controlled workouts designed to keep you in your target heart rate zone.
The lower Activity Zone provides easily accessible stride length and resistance level changes while the built in LCD display shows stride length, resistance level, and displays the muscles you’re currently working. The ErgoGrip stationary handlebar provides stability during lower-body only workouts, and it includes a removable, dishwasher safe water bottle holders and accessory tray with built-in reading rack.
One downside is the fact that this machine is 83” inches long and takes up more space than some other elliptical trainers. Other than that, the X8 is a very good machine which provides the best customizable workouts for anyone out there.
Life Fitness X1 Go Cross-Trainer
The Life Fitness X1 Go Cross-Trainer is the entry-level model in Life Fitness’s X Series.
It has a 20” stride and can be paired with a basic or advanced workout console. It provides unparalleled quality, a fluid total-body motion, and has the patented Link6 elliptical drive system that delivers an incredibly natural, comfortable stride.
The Track+ console connects to Android and Apple devices and lets you access personalized workouts, real-time workout tracking, and your favorite third-party fitness apps. The Track+ console has the tools that provide an engaging home workout experience that makes it easier to reach your workout goals.
The X1 cross trainer includes just 5 or 10 preset workouts, depending on the chosen console and there are only 12 resistance levels. This machine offers great quality, especially for an entry-level unit. Attractive features include great ergonomics, a wireless heart monitor, quiet operation, and durability. However, the relatively small number of programs and resistance levels might disappoint frequent exercisers.
